I recently had to take a business trip and there was a specific place where I wouldn’t have WIFI access. WIFI access is absolutely necessary because I work remotely and need to keep specific hours. I also have clients that contract my social media management services and I need to be plugged in. I started to research hot spots and came across the Verizon Mobile Hotspot. It stood out first and foremost because it has great data coverage and there are prepaid data plans available.
I don’t need to use the hot spot daily just when I travel. When I am home I am usually working from there where I have internet access or at a local café with WIFI availability. I absolutely love the convenience of working remotely. It gives me the flexibility to be wherever I need to be without sacrificing something else. On my latest trip I could work while I was attending a seminar and there wasn’t public WIFI available, in a mall while my family explored and at a theme park!
There are data plans to fit your needs starting with 500 MB good for 7 days at $15, 1 GB good for 30 days at $20, 2GB good for 60 days at $35, 5 GB good for 60 days at $60 and 10 GB good for 60 days at $100. I went with the 5 GB plan because I do a lot of online streaming as well as being connected to multiple social media networks for management and monitoring purposes. The coverage is 4G LTE Prepaid Data Coverage. It’s also on America’s Largest and Most Reliable 4G LTE Network.
What’s in The Box: Ellipsis Jetpack, Pre-installed SIM Card, Removable Li-Ion Battery, Wall/USB Charger and Verizon Brochures. Features: Extended Battery Life, Track Real Time Data Usage, Power Indicator LED, Connect up to 8 Devices and 4G LTE Network. NO Annual Contract was a huge bonus for me. I didn’t want to be locked into any contracts when I know I’d only be using it when I travel. It’s the perfect size and fits into the inside pocket of my backpack with no problem.
The set up wasn’t hard. Just follow the prompts on your brochure. It walks you through it step by step and you’ll be online in no time. It was done within minutes. I powered up my mobile hotspot and looked for it on my computer to show up as an available network. Once I did that your device gives you a password to put in. If you aren’t already a Verizon user, you’ll be prompted to set up an account. Once that is complete you set up your device, pick a data plan and pay! That’s pretty much it!
You have the option to select auto-pay but, I unchecked it because I won’t need to use it daily. It allows you to monitor your usage and adjust as necessary. I can always log into my account and pay for my data when I know I’ll need it. It’s very convenient to have and I’m glad I could find one. My local Best Buy was sold out but, checked other locations for me. Another location had one in stock and they called and put it on hold for me. I went and got it immediately as it was the day before I was traveling.
