So I’m sitting here reflecting on how disappointing my last few days have been. On Tuesday night I was online reading an article when my computer decided to freeze up. I couldn’t even log out correctly, I just had to power down. I left my computer alone for 24 hours and tried to power up and see what was going on. After no success, I decided to take my computer to Geek Squad and have them do diagnostics and a possible clean up for me. After testing, I learned that my computer was hijacked via Internet Explorer and there were corrupt files left on my computer causing it to malfunction. It also didn’t help that I had four different anti virus and spy ware programs installed on my computer.
I am on my computer quite frequently designing and frequenting all of my social networking sites that I have pages on. Since my computer has been in a coma, I’ve been at a stand still. I can’t maintain my Artfire Studio, Facebook Fan Page and I missed my Wordless Wednesday’s post this week because most of my photos are stored on my computer in a folder. I have learned a very good lesson. I always need to have my files backed up. I definitely need to invest in an external hard drive. If my computer is wiped clean I will need to reinstall all of my programs and certain things that I downloaded, I will lose and have to get all over again.
I think it’s funny that all of this came a few hours after I had a bunch of great news. I guess this would be considered the perfect balance. Some good and some bad! On Tuesday I was surprised with an autographed copy of a book that I designed the cover for recently. I then was asked by my General Manager & Web Director if I’d mind learning about certain aspects of the business website and becoming more involved. Once I’ve learned the basics and feel comfortable with it I’ll be taking over adding and maintaining certain content on our website in specific categories. That was great news for me because I get to learn something that peeks my interest and I can use what I learn at work and utilize it in my small business. Tuesday afternoon I got a phone call requesting a business logo design and I took on the client and said I’d have a proof to them within 48 hrs. Obviously that hasn’t happened yet!
Well, this is my Thursday night temper tantrum! I’m miserable when I’m not designing. I have all these ideas in my head and I can’t get them on my Photoshop Canvas, so I have to store them to memory until my computer is fixed. I can’t draw to save my life…
My computer is being repaired and I hope to have it back by Sunday.
Until next time…
