I was so excited when I saw Taco Bell’s “Doritos Locos Tacos” Campaign! Taco Bell has done a great job at making this an interactive experience for their consumers, and for a social media butterfly like myself… I love it! They have clearly branded all of their products that accompany this particular Doritos Taco Brand and have a strong social media driven campaign. Another plus about this campaign is that they want to hear from YOU, all you have to do is tweet using the hashtag #DoritosLocosTacos and your tweet can be featured on some of their print products that accompany the campaign AND you have the chance of being featured on one of their “Wall of Fame” billboards in Times Square, NYC or Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood, CA. This advertising campaign is so on point!
On the Doritos Locos Tacos holder there is a QR Code that you can scan and you’ll be taken to music performances that took place at SXSW this past March in Austin, TX. A new performance is featured every week. So, if you missed it thanks to Taco Bell you can still feel as though you were there. These marketing strategies definitely position itself to drive engagement and I haven’t even mentioned the targeted mobile ads or Buzz App yet. So (almost) everyone listens to Pandora right? Well, Taco Bell has ads running within Pandora that read “Taco Bell on the inside. Doritos on the outside. #DoritosLocosTacos.” This alone would make me want to try it! The Buzz App is available in the Android Marketplace and iPhone App Store. The Taco Bell Mobile Buzz App allows you to see what people are saying about Doritos Locos Tacos, You can also view the menu, find locations, check in, participate and play.
All I can say is Taco Bell in several ways gave calls to action and I can’t deny that I scanned the QR Code, Checked In on Foursquare, tweeted using the #DoritosLocosTacos hashtag and “Liked” them on FB and left a comment, downloaded the App and visited the website on several occasions. This interactive social media campaign is diverse on different platforms and did what it was supposed to do… Get people talking on social platforms, engaging and eating Doritos Locos Tacos! Taco Bell brought their A Game with this advertising campaign and are definitely with the times. They get an A+++ from me. Oh, and I’ve been talking so much about the campaign that I didn’t mention the Doritos Locos Taco is tasty and delicious! You know I captured my experience, take a look!
