I’ll let you in on a little secret about me… I’m usually in my bed working on my laptop. I will work at my desk on occasion but, my bed seems to be the most consistent place where I get most of my work done. I was very excited to have an opportunity to review the Lenovo 500 Multimedia Controller because it would be super convenient to navigate things on my laptop without having to use my built-in keyboard. If I am within 32.8 feet of the USB receiver I’ll have a great signal to use my controller.
The Lenovo Multimedia Controller is a wireless keyboard with a capacitive touch pad integrated on the entire keyboard surface. It’s supported on the Windows 7, 8.1 & 10 operating systems. Here’s what you’ll get in your package: controller, USB receiver, extension cable and documentation. In some countries 2 AAA batteries are included. I went out and bought AAA batteries for my controller. The included user guide walks you through a quick set up that is quite easy to navigate.
You can perform a variety of gestures using the keypad. It’s sensitive to finger and touch movement. There is a large touch pad area to support up to three-finger touch gestures. The keyboard is compact and ergonomically designed for ease of use. I have long nails and use it how I would my phone when texting on my mobile keyboard. It does take some getting used to being it’s a standalone wireless keyboard but, it’s very convenient when surfing the web or watching movies.
I was able to easily set it up by plugging the USB receiver into the port on my laptop. There was an immediate notification from my laptop within seconds that it was ready for use. I made sure to install my two AAA batteries and switch on the power. You can use the wireless keyboard and your touchpad interchangeably. Using the wireless keyboard doesn’t block your touchpad from working. First, I opened a web browser to see how easy it would be to surf the web using the multimedia controller.
Surfing the web was easy and then I opened Netflix on my laptop to see how easy it would be to navigate through the app using the Lenovo 500 Multimedia Controller. It was a seamless process of entering my email and password to get started and then browsing the different genre of movies and tv shows. There is an LED indicator light that shows the power status, caps lock status and DPI level of the controller. It also lights up for five seconds when you initially turn the controller on.
So, here’s the verdict! I really like the Lenovo 500 Multimedia Controller. It allows me to relax even more when I am on my laptop. You can also use it with multiple devices and not just stick to one. Just make sure you have a compatible operating system. The design is compact and ergonomic with left and right buttons as a traditional mouse. You also have six media keys which come in handy when binge watching your favorite shows on Netflix.
I love the convenience of the Lenovo 500 Multimedia Controller.
