Congrats to Paula Hafner for winning the Sesame Street video game Contest!
* Winner was chosen using True Random Number and #13 was the lucky number!
I have the greatest time playing Elmo’s A-to-Zoo Adventure with my two year old, and he loves it! Every chance my son gets he wants to play the “Elmo Game†with mommy. One thing I absolutely love about the game is that the directions are very easy to follow for you and child. It features shapes, colors, letters, letter sounds and words. My son is the youngest of four and he is a little advanced for his age. He is home schooled and on a kindergarten curriculum at the moment. He’s in an early childhood education program which works with infants and toddlers until they are ready to enter preschool. I love this game so much I passed it on to his teacher to work it into his class sessions.
At age two my son can count, knows his colors, knows the alphabet, and knows how to read on a kindergarten level. This game is great when teaching your toddler letter > sound > word identification, you have super easy audio-visual directions that are there to guide you and your little one. I would recommend this game to anyone wanting a game that they can play with their toddler and also could use it as a teaching tool, it’s definitely educating your child whether they realize it or not. I can’t wait to get the Sesame Street: Cookie’s Counting Carnival game.
Sesame Street: Elmo’s A-to-Zoo Adventure and Sesame Street: Cookie’s Counting Carnival video games are now available with a MSRP of $39.99 for Wii and $29.99 for Nintendo DS and PC versions.
Here is some background from the Company: In Sesame Street: Elmo’s A-to-Zoo Adventure, kids head to the Zoo with Elmo, Zoe and their animal friends, as they explore fun games including letter identification, rhyming, letter sounds and color and shape identification. Kids can also explore fun Zoo habitats including the Aquarium, Savanna, Jungle, Wetlands and the Arctic. Ages 3+
The Sesame Street: Elmo’s A-To-Zoo Adventure game is very interactive and you can do everything with the point and click of a mouse. As you and your child are playing the game it will adapt to your child’s level depending upon how many answers are correct vs. incorrect. You have the option of playing with 1 to 4 players and you can run through all the games or be selective and choose which ones you’d like to play.
The game works because you have two popular Sesame Street characters Elmo & Zoe visiting the zoo in all the different habitats. There are different animals that live in the zoo that are apart of each game and it just draws your toddler in. Elmo & Zoe talk directly to your child and you can let them take the lead and answer the questions and be there to guide them or correct them if something is wrong.
You should know that Sesame Street: Elmo’s A-to-Zoo Adventure is built around a core literacy curriculum for preschoolers. The games focus on basic literacy skills such as letter identification, identifying letter sounds, and recognizing common word families. In addition to this literacy curriculum, the games encourage the development of complementary skills such as color and shape identification. (This is an excerpt from WB Games Curriculum Overview)
