Planet Hollywood Observatory is located conveniently in the Disney Springs Town Center. I had the opportunity to visit the location before they officially opened back in November 16†for the Disney Holiday media event. I knew it was going to be spectacular based on the renderings and floor design plans that were shared with us. We did have an opportunity to sample a few items on the menu. Attendees received a business card with a USB that had press releases on it. It also had additional Planet Hollywood menu item information. I was excited for the grand opening and knew I would be back once it opened for a real experience.
Knowing I was going to be in Orlando, I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to have the ultimate Planet Hollywood Observatory experience. Our dinner reservation was scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and we walked in two minutes shy of it. There were people everywhere! It was packed! There was also a private event taking place on the top level with a local radio celebrity. We were immediately escorted to our table which was located on the third level. It gave us a great view of the entire restaurant. Perfect view of the lower levels and the 4,500 square foot video wall that kept us entertained. In addition to the attention grasping sound and media.
The entire restaurant would sing along in unison when certain songs came on. I was able to witness someone’s wedding engagement. It was displayed on the screen. How cool is that? Disney Proposals are pretty awesome! The entire restaurant celebrated along with the happy couple. Our server immediately greeted our table and asked to take our drink order. I opted to try the Planetary Punch Cocktail and enjoyed every bit of it. I even got to keep my glass as a souvenir. My nine year son ordered the Cosmic Cotton Candy Milkshake and I was in envy once it came to the table. It’s a masterpiece and was so fun to watch him tackle finishing.
It was recommended to order the High Roller Platter as a starter. As a matter of fact it’s a wheel with a variety of appetizers to try. Showcasing their Famous Chicken Crunch, Texas Tostados, Buffalo wings, Five Cheese Dip & Fried Jumbo Shrimp. It was delicious! I glanced over the menu and I settled on the L.A. Lasagna for my entrée. Its fresh pasta tubes filled with ricotta & Bolognese meat sauce. Then fried to a golden brown, served with roasted garlic cream & tomato basil sauces. I’ve never had lasagna like this before and I loved it! It was seriously delicious. I’m so going to try and change up my lasagna recipe at home.
We also shared a NY Strip Steak, Penne Chicken & Broccoli, Bird is the Word (a Guy Fieri Signature Sandwich) and Kids Chicken Fingers. ALL the food was delicious! It came out in record time after we ordered. I honestly was stuffed but, will make room for dessert because you know… Sweet Tooth! We were surprised with the Brownie Sundae Martini. Served with TWELVE decadent chunks of freshly-baked brownies layered with six scoops of vanilla & chocolate ice cream. Then topped with caramel & chocolate sauces buried under LOTS of whip cream & a cherry on top! Um… YUM!
In summary our visit to Planet Hollywood Observatory was Ah-mazing! The walls are filled with tons of Hollywood memorabilia. We had stellar customer service. The Manager came over and hung out with us for a moment and always made sure we were okay and weren’t in need of anything during our visit. Planet Hollywood is a great restaurant for all ages and the diverse menu is American Cuisine. Reservations are accepted. I would recommend making a reservation ahead of time so you don’t have to wait. It’s a very popular dining location in the heart of Disney Springs. Additionally there is also Stargazers the new patio bar to enjoy the sunset. Also, check out the store at Planet Hollywood Observatory for cool mementos to chronicle your visit.
Have you ever been to Planet Hollywood? If not, head over to the planet!
