Right before the holidays I planned a “Holiday/ End of year†potluck and was introduced to SignUp Genius from one of my awesome Girl Scout Volunteers. I had never used SignUp Genius before and was tickled pink that it was super easy to use, you know I love anything user friendly. It allowed me to plan the event using a existing potluck designed theme available on SignUp Genius. I listed the date, time, location and all the items needed to have a successful event. I broke it down into categories: Appetizer, Entrée, Dessert, Drinks, and Paper Products. I had five sign up slots under each category. I posted the link in our Yahoo Group and it was immediately available for volunteers to start signing up to bring a item within their category of choice. I didn’t have to deal with countless group emails, mass text messaging or paper! That’s a win for me!
I had such a great experience using SignUp Genius that I plan to use it going forward for any event that I coordinate. I organize events quite frequently and this will definitely make my life just a little bit easier. I also plan on sharing SignUp Genius with everyone! It’s a great resource to have especially when you are affiliated with any nonprofit organizations, clubs, sports, churches, schools and even great for family events! SignUp Genius kept me organized and I was able to keep track of RSVP’s and what people signed up to bring. I like that you have an available note field to list what you are bringing, so we had no issues with duplicate items. I was able to look on the sign up sheet the day of the event to see total RSVP’s, if anything was missing or if we needed more of any particular item and I was able to fill in that gap where needed. I took on the task of bringing a entrée and paper products.
Overall I had a successful event and there was no stress involved! All the information I needed was right at my finger tips online. I was also happy to see that SignUp Genius is located in Charlotte, NC. I’m in the Raleigh-Durham area so that made me smile that they are local! I love supporting local businesses. Another bonus is that SignUp Genius has a mobile version optimized for iPhone & Android users. If you’re busy like me and always on the go, this is a huge plus! I work FT, run a small business, am the mom of four, wife to one and the list goes on and on! I want to be able to organize events with ease! Basic SignUp Genius is FREE, you can upgrade to a PRO version with no ads and additional features. I should also mention that you can use designed themes or customize your own sign up page.
