2019 Mazda CX-5 New Year, New Updates

I had the opportunity to experience the Mazda CX-5 2018 Grand Touring edition last year and was very pleased with its overall performance and style. It’s a New Year and I got to drive a new ride with a few updates. The 2019 Mazda CX-5 Signature AWD with a Machine Gray Metallic Exterior and Deep Red Interior is a smooth operator. I couldn’t wait to see what new features were available to me and you know I’m going to explore the tech first and foremost. It’s my favorite part of the vehicle.

My calendar was full towards the end of December and into the New Year so, I had a sweet ride to drive. I was able to make all my holiday parties and shop for my NYE outfit in the 2019 Mazda CX-5. It did rain a bit during my auto loan, so I was able to see how it handles on the road when it’s wet. I will say that there are many built-in safety features that made me feel confident behind the wheel when driving. I enjoyed the 360-view display and sensors for the front and rear which made parking an ease.

The sensors also alerted me when someone was walking in front or behind my vehicle. The engine got an upgrade giving you more power producing 310 LB-FT Torque and 250 horsepower. I took it on the highway for a quick day trip and I wasn’t disappointed. The Mazda Navigation System worked impeccably, and I was able to explore the city with ease. I took full advantage of the heated steering wheel along with the heated front and rear seats. Especially in the evenings when the temp dropped.

You have Android & Apple Auto Compatibility which is cool if you’d like to listen to your playlists in the car while you drive or a SiriusXM subscription outside of listening to your favorite radio station. You can also access your contacts, messages, maps and more. The power-folding exterior mirrors are cool, and you can enjoy the reconfigurable 7-inch gauge display. That display gave me so much information when I was driving, and I can’t forget the projected speed onto my windshield.

The steering response is on the money and will adjust accordingly. I did great on fuel for the driving I was doing. You get 24 mpg combined city and highway. I’m familiar with the Mazda Connect technology and the upgrades for 2019 didn’t disappoint. It’s overall a smooth ride and I thoroughly enjoyed playing with all the UPGRADED features and learning as I ventured to different places. It’s definitely a top choice vehicle for road trips whether near or far. It’s very comfortable!

The MSRP for standard equipment is $36,890 and optional equipment can bring you up to $39,030 with all the bells and whistles. What’s Your Word for 2017?

I’ve been intrigued by seeing everyone’s “word” for 2017. There is a vow to be intentional about living in your purpose and achieving some important goals this year. I even answered on a Facebook post that posed the question. My answer was FEARLESS! Lately, I’ve just been doing things for the sake of doing them to say that I did it! I use to let fear hold me back and I’ve been proven time and time again that when I get out of my comfort zone, amazing things start to happen.

I’m still scared to do certain things but, I do it afraid! I recently published a video on YouTube that I wanted to re-record because it wasn’t good enough to me. I’m slowly pulling myself out of the “it has to be perfect” slump. My mantra… Done is better than perfect! There are so many things that I didn’t do because it wasn’t up to my standards. I started to look at how many things I could have accomplished if I would have just gotten out of my own way. It made my head hurt!

Change is inevitable and I think I may change my word even though I am doing things that scare me. My mind started racing at what other people saw in me that I didn’t see in myself. I’m so behind the scenes and love to create that public recognition is the last thing I think about. I’m also a bit on the introverted side even though I have practiced the art of effective networking and can work a room of people but, cringe at the thought of public speaking to an audience and video is another struggle of mine.

Saying all of that to say this… If you are passionate about what you do, it will show in the work that you produce and people will see it. I’m always surprised by what people see in me that I can’t see in myself. I’ve been nominated for ACHI Woman of the Year Award, TED Talks Speaker and Locals Fueling Change for Tech Talent South. I don’t submit my name for anything. No nominations for awards, no public speaking opportunities and no contests for public recognition. I stay in my bubble and work!

This week I was surprised because I was referred to as a “local designer and woman of color” and the boutique owner who said it made me really think because even though I just recently launched my online boutique and I’m working to get my statement tees in local clothing boutiques I NEVER once considered myself a clothing designer. I just started designing statement tees based on my personality traits and quotes that people can relate to. So, my NEW word(s) for this year is… OWN IT!

You may not always see what radiates from you or about you to others. Own it and walk in your purpose and keep doing what you are doing. Do it with passion, do it authentically, do it with fear but, DO IT! When you are sought after as an authority on a specific subject, don’t question it. Don’t do what I did and shy away from it, don’t down play it! It’s a big deal! Add that title to your list of accomplishments and keep moving forward!

No Resolutions, I’m Setting Goals In 2013

What‘s the difference you ask? Resolution is a resolve or determination: to make a firm resolution to do something. A goal is the result or achievement toward which effort is directed; aim; end. I decided not to declare any New Year’s Resolutions for 2013 because I’d much rather work actively towards attainable goals personally and in business. Here are some of my goals for 2013…

One of my goals first and foremost is to live my life on purpose and now that I have recognized what I am meant to do I can live out my dreams doing what I am passionate about.

Goal 2: I will not allow fear to deter me from stepping out of my comfort zone. Be Fearless!

Goal 3: I have learned that there is no perfect time like the present. I’ll stop putting things off and procrastinating.

Goal 4: Update my graphic designs on all my social networking pages to match my current blog logo and color scheme.

Goal 5: Expand the Jael umbrella and start a new business venture in my Marketing profession. That is truly where my passion lies.

Goal 6: Drink Water! This I really need to do. I can’t say I’ll start out drinking the required 6-8 glasses a day but, I’ll at least try to get a daily dose of water. I need to add lemon, cucumber or lime!

Goal 7: Travel a little more with my family this year. I’m already planning a trip to Disney World, Jamaica, and a Caribbean cruise.

Goal 8: Take some much needed “ME” time so I don’t get burned out!

Goal 9: Market my brand more than I ever have and grow my business.

Goal 10: Have a great year and accomplish all my goals!!! I think I set some reasonable goals that I can accomplish this year.

2010 Review and Looking Forward to 2011

This year has been such a GREAT year for me and I can only hope that the New Year brings bigger and better opportunities! Some of the things I really enjoyed this year was meeting a lot of my blog buddies and Twitter Friends IRL by attending several social media events and a couple of blog conferences. I LOVE connecting with people. I also had an opportunity to be involved in a couple of brand campaigns that were for good causes and you can’t help but feel good when you’ve participated in a brand campaign that’s geared toward you giving back to your community.

I am really enjoying my Full Time job, I was the Sales Coordinator and working in the web department for almost four years and I’ve recently had a position change to Marketing Coordinator. I now do what I ultimately love and that’s helping my company build its brand through social media efforts, advertising, sponsoring local events, community outreach and building our newsletter subscriptions through sign up at events. I see nothing but, SUCCESS for us!

I have really enjoyed growing in the blogosphere. I started blogging in June of 09′ and I have been continuously learning, networking and meeting awesome people. I am really focusing on social media, graphic/ web design and building my brand! I can’t express how much blogging has changed my life for the better and opened up certain opportunities that I may not have ever been able to achieve, including my position change at work! That was stimulated from my employer seeing what I was capable of doing in the blogosphere working with brands and being successful at it.

Looking Forward to 2011: I hope to surpass my achievements in the previous  year. I’d like to be able to stick to a routine and manage my hectic life a little better. I’d like to get to bed earlier than 2:00 a.m. every morning!

I’d like to start doing yoga, kickboxing and exercising in general on a daily basis. I’d like to drink more water than I do. I HATE water. I always need it to be flavored or I add sugar, but that just turns it into juice, right? Ha! Ha!

I’d love my sister to relocate to North Carolina from New York so we can be closer together and she can be with me at all these networking events and my travel partner to all the conferences that I’ll be attending in the coming year.

I’d love to really grow my blog, brand and business in the New Year! I’m working on branding myself continuously and have some really great projects coming up in the near future.

Overall, I hope that I have a HAPPY, HEALTHY, and PROSPEROUS New Year along with all my friends and family! This includes all my virtual buddies! Let’s go into this New Year with Positivity, Productivity and we’ll get the SUCCESS! xoxoxo
