I recently had an opportunity to privately screen the Girls Trip Movie during BlogHer and had a BALL! The trailer and cast sold me and I knew it would be a comedic treat! Everyone deserves a gut wrenching belly laugh that brings you to tears. This movie is about four girl friends that have known each other since their college days and formed an unbreakable bond. They are besties, but you know sometimes life gets in the way and plays a part in lack of communication or distance will keep you a part for periods of time.
They get an opportunity to reconnect by traveling to New Orleans during the annual Essence Festival and embark on TONS of fun. Their relationship is definitely put to the test but, they overcome the drama and their sisterhood remained intact. The adventure starts as soon as they hit Bourbon Street and they start to find their alter egos that have been buried for a while. Everything from zip lining, bar hopping, dancing and finding romance in the midst of chaos make this such a romantic comedy.
I’m sure that if you go with your girlfriends you will all be able to relate to each character. AND… honestly I think that every group of friends has that one friend like each of the characters. I’m going to tell you right now that Tiffany Haddish is hysterical! I literally laughed until tears started streaming down my face. I hadn’t laughed like that in a long time. Then those sentimental moments crept in that made me think about my genuine friendships and missing my friends, that made me tear up.
If I learned anything from Girls Trip it’s this… Live in the moment! Be open and honest with your best friends, there’s no need to hide things from them especially when you are going through something when you may need them the most. Don’t pretend everything is okay, when it’s not! Take moments to stop what you are doing and check-in with your friends. I definitely recommend trying to plan a girl’s trip occasionally so you can take a break, get away and enjoy life with your bestie(s)!
Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith, Regina Hall and Tiffany Haddish are amazing in this movie! I can just imagine how much fun they had filming. You also get to see Kofi Siriboe, Mike Colter, Larenz Tate, Deborah Ayorinde, Kate Walsh, Lara Grice and Janeline Hayes. Get ready for two hours of non-stop laughter and scenes that will make you reflect on your friendships. Girl Trip Movie opens in theaters on July 21st, 2017. I honestly can’t wait to go and see it again thanks to #BlogHer17 and Fandango!
