I have the pleasure of knowing Quincy Pedew and I’m supporting his cause, please help me and do the same. Quincy was nominated to campaign for the 2013 Man of The Year hosted by the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. His team goal is to raise 100,000 in ten weeks. Quincy has the opportunity to help more than 1 million Americans who are living with blood cancers. Each year the NC Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society hosts the Man & Woman of the year fundraising competition. Quincy’s campaign started on February 19th and will end on May 2nd. The money raised will go directly to LLS in support of its longstanding mission to find a cure for blood cancers and improve the quality of life for patients and their families. This is a cause that is close to my heart, I have lost loved ones due to different cancers and have seen loved ones fight leukemia that are still with me here today. Thank God! I know we can all relate to this and agree that Cancer Sucks!
Here is Quincy’s story! In 2004 he was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) which is a cancer of the white blood cells. He has had multiple chemotherapy and radiation treatments along with two stem cell transplants. He has been in remission now for three years. LLS provided Quincy and his family tremendous support through their patient assistant program. He personally has committed to raising funds necessary to provide opportunity to other patients and families just like his own. Like Many of us, Quincy has witnessed first hand the debilitating effects that leukemia, lymphoma Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma can have on those who suffer from these blood diseases and on the friends and family who care for and nurture their loved ones. In fact, leukemia still causes more deaths among children than any other cancer. New hope to find a cure for blood cancers has never been greater. For instance, of the 39 new cancer-fighting drugs approved by the FDA in the past 10 years, 19 of them were initially developed for blood cancers and many had funding from LLS. All 19 of those drugs show promise for treating other cancers.
With your support of a tax-deductible donation, LLS can continue funding critical research in the fight against blood cancers as well as provide outstanding patient services. Please consider a gift in honor of someone you know personally who has been touched by cancer. Blood cancers in particular know no boundaries, but you can join in the fight for a cure! You can make a secure donation online by visiting Quincy’s Page and clicking on the donate button, or send a check made payable to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at 401 Harrison Oaks Blvd., Suite 200, Cary, NC 27513 by May 2nd. Please be sure to include Quincy Pedew in the memo. Quincy was recently on My Carolina Today to share his cause, please take a look and SHARE! Thank you!
