When you drive up to the Myers House NC you immediately get a taste of Halloween. There are stone pumpkins at the entrance to the walk up, a Myers Home sign and lots of trees with spooky Halloween figures hanging from them. There are hints of Blair Witch decorations along with the Halloween Michael Myers theme. The home is surrounded by Jack O’ Lanterns, cemetery headstones and skeletons. You feel like you are in the middle of a movie scene. I was intrigued by all the decorations and most of all the passion and dedication to all things Halloween.
Assuming there is lots of work that goes into keeping up a “famous†replica home. I’m certain people want to see it all the time, plus the fact that it’s actually being lived in. I imagine nonstop emails with requests to view the property especially during the Halloween season. People travel from near and far to visit the Myers Home NC. I’ve been trying to visit for years! I FINALLY got a chance to recently visit the Myers House NC and I LOVED it! It’s no secret that I love horror ANYTHING! I stay glued to SyFy’s #SyFy31DOH (31 Days of Halloween) all month long watching all the old and new Halloween movies that play.
My favorite horror movies continue to be the classics. I can watch Poltergeist, The Monster Squad, Fright Night, Pet Sematary, Halloween, A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Amityville Horror, Friday the 13th and so many more over and over again! They never get old to me. So you know I was super excited to learn a few years ago that a life size replica of the original Myers House from John Carpenter’s 1978 Classic Horror Film Halloween was right here in Hillsborough, North Carolina. The Independent Weekly wrote a feature story about Myers House NC in October of 2010 and I’ve tried to visit every year since and it hadn’t happened until now.

Kenny Caperton, a former employee of Rob Zombie, has built an exact replica of the famous Michael Myers house from the movie “Halloween” in the woods is Hillsborough, NC. Accurate down to the last architectural detail, the house is frequently used as a filming location for horror movies.
The Myers House NC is the residence of Kenny and Emily Caperton along with their two cats Loki & Siva. Kenny has loved Halloween since he was a child and has been collecting memorabilia throughout the years. His home is like a “horror museum†with masks, costumes and movie posters that he has collected. Kenny had this out of the box idea to build his home as a replica of the original Myers Home back in 2008 and construction was completed in March of 2009. There are some differences in the homes interior layout so it would be a comfortable modern living space for the couple with all the necessities.
There had to be some updates like adding a kitchen and bathrooms that weren’t a part of the original Myers Home. The back of the home has been altered just a bit to fit the layout. It’s a beautiful home and looks really cool when decorated for Halloween and is lit up at night. Kenny & Emily open up their home once a year to host a well-attended Halloween Bash that is open to the public. The Myers House NC sits on over 5 acres of old farmland in the country. This year will be the 8th Halloween Bash taking place on Saturday October 29th. This is the only time of year that Kenny & Emily allow guests to view the inside of their home during a limited time period.
The Halloween Bash begins at 6:30 p.m. and will end at Midnight. There will be bonfires, movies, food trucks, special guests, the boogeyman and some surprises. The movies showing this year will be THE STRANGERS (2008) & HALLOWEEN H20 (1998) & THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT (1999). Movies will be projected on a 10’ X 20’ movie screen in the front yard of The Myers House NC. It’s advised to bring your own law chairs, blankets and flashlights. No children under 12 yrs. and no pets permitted. There are guests that reserved camping on the property and will stay overnight. Doesn’t it sound like it’s going to be a spooktacular evening?
