I’m BACK! My site has been down ever since the 12th of September. Long story short… I purchased my domain name over at Go Daddy through Blogger when I first started blogging. I eventually decided moved over to WordPress.org and got my hosting through Dreamhost. It was a seamless transition over and all I had to do was point my DNS (Domain Name Servers) over to Dreamhost. Well recently my domain name expired through Go Daddy and me being the meticulous person that I am decided I wanted to transfer my domain over to Dreamhost since they ARE hosting me and I can have my domain name and hosting all in one place. I don’t like too many things scattered around!
So… I started the domain transfer process and had to wait for GoDaddy to approve the transfer and unlock my domain name. Meanwhile I didn’t want to pay them for an additional year if I was transferring the name because I’d end up paying Dreamhost also. Well, had I known once the 12th came around they were going to take down my site, may be I would have sucked it up and paid! I had gotten an email on 8/25 notifying me that my domain name was expiring and that it was time to renew. I immediately started the transfer process but, they say it usually takes 5-7 business days and of course unexpected nonsense always gets in the way when you’re on a deadline.
Dreamhost said that they responded to my initial request but, it must have ended up in my spam folder because I never received anything from them after I had put in the request. After a few days of waiting I contacted them and that’s what the conclusion was. Okay that’s at least a week lost! I requested the transfer again and had to wait for an approval before I went any further. Fast forward to today! I put in the request AGAIN and have to call Go Daddy because when I submitted my request it was automatically denied and transfer failed because my domain name was locked! I stay on the phone with the rep as he unlocks my domain name and tells me what I need to do once my domain has been unlocked so I’ll be successful at transferring things over the Dreamhost! Well, I FINALLY get the confirmation email that my domain name has been SUCCESSFULLY transferred over to Dreamhost and within minutes my site is LIVE again! It feels good to be back! Now it’s time to catch you up on what you’ve missed and what’s coming up! Happy Monday!
