Today was a scorcher and it’s not even summer yet! The high was 90 degrees and all I could think about was Fahsyrah’s Homemade Lemonade. The other day I was driving around looking for a particular location when I noticed a lemonade stand on the side of the road. I was blown away because I’ve never seen a real homemade lemonade stand before. Seriously! I’ve seen them on television and I may have even tried to have my own at a very young age but, in my adulthood I haven’t seen any lemonade stands. I actually had to make a u turn AND I’m so glad I did! It’s seriously the BEST lemonade I’ve ever tasted! The gentleman running the stand was Mr. Fahim Knight. He was standing in for his daughter who is the actual owner of the stand, she’s twelve! They have a remarkable story to share.
Fahsyrah started her lemonade business last summer in an effort to raise two thousand dollars to attend Flip Fest at Lake Frances a gymnastics camp outside of Nashville Tennessee. Her lemonade was an instant hit which allowed her to exceed her monetary goal and attend camp. It was so popular that she couldn’t just shut down once she reached her goal; she stayed in business the entire summer with the help of her parents. The recipe for her homemade lemonade is actually a family recipe from her grandmother Annie Ballentine that she has mastered! Fahsyrah’s gotten this recipe down so good she entered it into the Durham YMCA Lemonade contest and won 1st place, giving her the title of having the best tasting lemonade in Durham, NC ! I also learned that there’s a Lemonade Day, the dates differ in each city and it teaches kids how to become entrepreneurs. Check out Durham’s Lemonade Day.
Fahsyrah is at it again raising funds to be able to attend gymnastics camp this summer. Let’s support her! I can guarantee it’ll be the best fresh squeezed lemonade you’ve tasted. If you’re in Durham stop by 2107 S. Alston Ave to purchase some of Fahsyrah’s Homemade Lemonade. She also caters events. This young entrepreneur is a go getter and is investing in her future! I’ll be buying this lemonade by the gallon!
