The Zhuniverse Came to Durham, NC and I Was There!
In case you have no idea who the ZhuZhu Pets are or what the Zhuniverse is, I’m here to give you clarity! ZhuZhu Pets are seriously the best alternative to real life hamsters. They are cute small and cuddly and look very much like the real thing. With ZhuZhu Pets you don’t have to deal with the real life maintenance that comes along with owning a real hamster. No cages to clean, no scooping poop, no stink, and they don’t die or multiply! You can collect them at your leisure.
I had the opportunity to go to the ZhuZhu Pet event at the Durham, NC Toys R Us location so I took mini me and we had a blast! There is a variety of ZhuZhu Pets to choose from and they each have names and personalities. There are two modes that they can be in, loving mode where they talk (squeak) and like to be pet. There is also explore mode where they are mobile and use their wheels to move around on the floor and in their (world) Zhuniverse. There are great accessories that can be purchased and they all link together so you can continue to build your (Zhuniverse) hamster world.
The following day we had the opportunity to go out to Southpoint Mall and have fun at the ZhuZhu Pet Tour Event! There were activities for the kids to play, a hamster wheel so they could run, a huge hamster habitat that they could crawl through just to name a few things. There was also a booth set up so you could see what type of ZhuZhu pet you were and take a photo to access online and play games. It was a really fun day and I must say I’m on Team ZhuZhu! For more information head on over to the ZhuZhu Pets Website Here are a few pictures from the event and I’ll also post a Whrrl slideshow! Here’s the link http://www.whrrl.com/e/hZULr Enjoy!
My Top Ten Reasons To Register Early For Blogalicious 2010
I have heard so many good things about the Blogalicious Conference from last years event that I’d really kick myself if I missed it! I’m all about networking and meeting everyone face to face that I talk to on a daily basis in the blogosphere. I think it’s an AWESOME opportunity to connect and I love that it’s all about diversity. Now let me give you all of my selfish reasons for wanting to register early for Blogalicious 2010.
1.) Okay believe it or not, I’ve never been to Miami! I’m a born and raised New Yorker and even though I now reside in North Carolina, it’s the farthest South I’ve ever been (state side). (Besides the Caribbean) *sigh*
2.) I usually take the family with me to blog conferences but, this time I think the kids are staying with hubby at home so Mommy can get some “ME” time. That’s a rare thing now a days for me! I can’t wait!
3.) I can’t wait to learn as much as I can by day and party, party, party with Cocoamommy at night! We’ll both be celebrating our birthdays in Miami. Libras Rock! Woot! Woot!
4.) I know if I register early there is no way I’ll let anything get in the way of me & Miami in October. I’ll have something to look forward to and work towards. I’ll have motivation!
5.) I get the enjoy all the amenities of the Ritz Carlton Hotel! I was SOLD when I heard about the Marble Baths and Goose Down & non allergenic Foam Pillows! Baths & Sleeping will be blissful! Oh I can’t forget we’ll have a view of the beach!
6.) One of my FAVORITE reasons is that Caribbean Carnival is that weekend too and I’d love to be able to see it and participate in the festivities. My family is Jamaican and I’ve been to carnival in Canada (Caribana), Caribbean Day Parade in New York on Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn (Labor Day Weekend), I’ve been to carnival in St. Thomas, USVI. I just love carnival!!!!! This will be a GREAT experience for me!
7.) Okay this reason may be one of my most selfish! I’ve been nursing my son since birth and he’s now two and a half. Two years old was my cut off to wean him but, I’m not strong enough to stick to it. When I deny him he gets really upset and has tantrums and I ultimately end up giving in when I can’t deal with him crying anymore. I figure a few days away from me and the boobs and maybe he’ll not want it when I return and I can do the whole cold turkey weaning! He does fine when I’m not around but when I am around he’s so dependent upon it. Especially at nap time and bed time. It’s wishful thinking!
8.) I NEED a vacation!
9.) I get to have one of the best birthdays I’ve had and I know I’ll have a ball!
10.) Did I mention I needed “ME” time! I see spas, shopping, and nightlife in my future! I lack a social life at the moment. My social life currently consists of Twitter, Facebook, and Blogs! I love social networking, I don’t think it wouldn’t hurt to get out now and then and socialize with people personally.
Well there you have it, my top ten reasons I’m registering early for Blogalicious 2010! I’ll see you there if you’re going!
Mom Bloggers Meet, Greet,Tweet and Celebrate Sesame Place’s 30th Birthday!
This past Saturday, Mom Bloggers Club Members from all over met for a Tweet Up at Sesame Place and had the opportunity to have a buffet style lunch together at Big Bird’s Riverside Pavilion. We were meeting, networking, and chatting with each other and founder of The Mom Bloggers Club Jennifer James. It was great to meet other bloggers and match faces with Twitter ID’s and blog names that you connect with online. I even got to meet Cocoamommy a dear friend from the blogosphere that I’ve been speaking with regularly via twitter, Skype and even on the phone. We hadn’t met personally until Saturday, and it was just like old girlfriends playing catch up! I didn’t get the chance to meet everyone but, hopefully another opportunity will arise where we can all try and connect again. We were visited by Zoe & Grover during lunch and our children got to talk with the characters and take pictures with them! I think we all enjoyed that!
We prepared for this event by following each others Twitter accounts and while we were having fun with our families we were also tweeting out what we were doing and including @SesamePlace Sesame Place’s Twitter ID and the hashtag #TweetUp to stay connected! I traveled with my husband and four children from North Carolina to attend the Tweet Up and it was awesome! I took many pictures and will be sharing them on Whrll and my Facebook Pages .
It was opening day and the park was PACKED! The sun was shining; the temperature was in the nineties and it was great theme park weather! I must say we covered almost all the rides with the kids. We started at Big Bird’s Rambling River, which was a fun relaxing ride in a floating ring (donut) along the river. The Sky Splash was our next ride to conquer and it was humongous! It’s a huge water slide with a floating devise that seats 6-8 people and you get splashed by the rubber ducky and shower on the way down! Everyone got off that ride soaking wet! Now, I did get on a few rides but, me being the “capture every moment†mom that I am, spent a lot of time playing photographer and capturing our memories digitally. My daughters were brave enough to ride Vapor Trail roller coaster with dips, twists, and turns. They got off smiling looking like it was “no sweat of their backsâ€. My children absolutely loved Grover’s World Twirl; they were spinning out of control and got off the ride in a dizzy daze. My husband didn’t think I had gotten on enough rides and practically forced me to get on the Sesame Streak, a water slide that I screamed half of the way down on until I landed safely in the pool. That was definitely one of my highlights of the day!
One thing that I absolutely loved was that there are stations for nursing mothers to breastfeed in privacy, and as a nursing mom I truly appreciated that amenity. I also loved the beautiful landscaping. The landscape art was absolutely gorgeous with creatively sculpted characters with flowers, bushes and shrubs, and to top it off a three layered sculpted 30th Birthday Cake, it was Amazing! We were all exhausted from all the fun. When we left the park wouldn’t you know my hubby was the first one to go to sleep! I couldn’t do anything but laugh; overall it was a perfect day!
