This Independence holiday weekend, while everyone is traveling, enjoying family, nice weather, and Barbeques… My family and I will be packing up our town home and getting ready to move into a hotel for nine days until our new home is ready to be moved in to. Happy 4th of July to us!
My life has been a huge hectic blob since my landlord told me he’s putting the town house on the market. A FOR SALE sign went up in my front yard and a lock box went on my door handle. Let the games begin! My home was being shown while I still occupied it which was a HUGE inconvenience to my family (whether we were home or not). Having people in and out of our home with barely 24 hrs notice was REALLY annoying. I always tried to be present when ever our home was being shown. After about one month of the house being on the market, my landlord got an offer! Whoa… in this economy and the way the housing market is at the moment, I was surprised! Well, that is when the clock started to tick for me. I had exactly 60 days to find a new home to relocate my family to. I looked in Durham, Raleigh and Chapel Hill, NC. I really wanted to stay in the same neighborhood and school district I was already in so I wouldn’t disrupt my children’s education and have to enroll them in a new district or new city for that matter where they would have to start all over again.
In the 25th hour I lucked up on another town home within close proximity to where I was originally which is a huge bonus but, it won’t be ready until after I have to be out of my current home. I asked if my deadline could be extended by a few days and they wouldn’t budge! The buyers wanted to occupy the space immediately upon signing the purchase agreement and I was left to make arrangements to stay in an extended stay hotel (with four children) and rent a mobile storage until for all of our belongings for nine days! Lord give me the strength to endure what ever is about to happen! I thought about being a B!&@# and having the landlord evict me which would have bought me an additional 30 days but, that was a short lived thought! I just knew that as a tenant I must have some rights but, this whole experience drained me. I had no fight in me to fight! If I’m distant from the blogosphere and post irregularly within the next couple of weeks, this is why! I’ll be back with an update & conclusion to this story…
