Everyone knows I have a sweet tooth, well if you didn’t… you know now! I love cupcakes, cookies, ice cream, brownies… The list goes on. I was out to lunch with my sister one day at Foster’s Market in Durham,NC and she bought a sugar cookie for dessert which automatically made her think about our step mom Marci’s sugar cookies. The cookie we bought was tasty, frosted and designed as a penguin wrapped in a Christmas scarf! The cost of the cookie was roughly around $3.00 and we started to ponder how our step mom should be profiting from her cookie recipe.
Our step mom in an entrepreneur and owns Carmon’s Mountain Media where she creates commercials for her local cable station and deals with lots of videography and 3D animation. She does take on other client projects as well and she makes her sugar cookies and gives it to her clients as a thank you! That’s awesome client appreciation! The thing is her cookies are so good and perfectly designed that we (my sister & I) think she could definitely profit off of selling these delicious sugar cookies. I know that creating video is her passion but, we’re trying to talk her into starting another business and selling her cookies. I’m all about multiple streams of income!
There are many things to consider when launching a baking company as well as guidelines, rules and regulations for each state. If it’s a home baking business you are required to have a separate kitchen in some places. There are community kitchens that small food businesses use to cook their food or bake their goods. That could be another option to consider. I just love when someone has a craft or talent that can be monetized. I’m always thinking business! In any event my step moms cookies are DELICIOUS and I hope she decides to make it a business that I’d Market & Promote with no problem!
