Major thank you to my blogging boo Leslie of SobeSavvy for inviting me on a Girls Night Out at Raleighwood Cinema Grill to screen Black Panther. I have been super excited for Black Panther to hit theaters. We already knew when he appeared in Captain America: Civil War that something was on the horizon. His father was killed in an explosion while addressing the U.N. They just couldn’t leave us hanging like that and there was a storyline that would soon follow to give us some closure.
Raleighwood is a great event space with two spacious theaters offering family-friendly atmosphere, dining options along with a beer and wine menu. They have table seating and countertops which came in super handy because I had some work to complete before the movie started. I popped open my laptop and jumped on their WIFI and completed my work just in time for the previews to begin. We received complimentary wine from our host and ordered some appetizers to enjoy during the movie. There’s even a Black Panther Chocolate Super Shake on the menu!
The menu is American Pub Grub and there is wheelchair accessibility throughout the facility. Casual atmosphere and table service. Pricing for tickets and food is very affordable. It’s perfect for a family fun day! Except for remembering how Captain America: Civil War ended, I had no preconceived ideas as to how Black Panther was going to play out. I went in with an open mind and no conspiracy theories as to what hidden messages I need to look out for. My mind was a blank sleight!
Black Panther had me at the edge of my seat the entire time. I couldn’t relax and get comfortable because I was engrossed with everything happening on that screen. It captured my attention the ENTIRE movie, there wasn’t a moment where I was lost or needed cliff notes to follow along. You also can see it as a stand-alone movie. No need to watch previous Marvel movies thinking it will catch you up. You’ll be okay! The star-studded predominantly African American cast was AMAZING!
Marvel Studios’ BLACK PANTHER follows T’Challa who, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king—and Black Panther—is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.
Takeaways: Every family has secrets surface that need to be dealt with. No matter the differences among people, you can come together in agreement and make change that will benefit everyone. Even though things have been one way for generations, change is necessary and good! *cues* We shall overcome… The women are off the hook, beautiful, intelligent and loyal! Wakanda is beautiful and the technology sourced by vibranium is something out of this world. Go see Black Panther! It’s NOW PLAYING EVERYWHERE & action packed! I can’t wait for Avengers: Infinity War and a follow up to Black Panther. Pay attention to the credits at the end.
