It’s the First Saturday in May and what better than to talk about fashion and style. I’m wearing my natural hair in a fresh twist out which gives me the stretched defined curl I’m looking for. I washed my hair, detangled it and my sister is my designated twist out expert, so she always twists my hair for me. I honestly have NO patience when it comes to hair and my sister said that she would support me 100% through my natural hair journey. She has been amazing and been true to her word. We’ve tried several different natural hair products on my hair and the one she seems to prefer when twisting my hair is the Cantu Shea Butter Coconut Curling Cream.
If I’m not rocking a wash and go (which I love!), she has twisted my hair for me or I’ve gone to the salon and gotten a natural hair style. I know as my hair grows I’ll have to move away from the wash and go but, it’s super convenient for now especially with the humidity and rain during the Spring and going into the Summer Season. As my natural hair continues to grow out, I’ll probably wear more twist outs, Bantu knots, flat twists or even braids. I can say that I’ll be coming up on my one year anniversary since my big chop and I think my hair is definitely healthier, I LOVE my curl pattern and it’s one of the best decisions I ever made. My makeup is really light today. I wanted to keep a more natural look so I’m just wearing my bareMinerals Foundation, Clinique High Lengths Mascara, and MAC Pompadorable Lustre Lispstick. That’s It!
So what I’m wearing today is a turtle neck, long sleeve floral lace top with a nude tank top underneath from Forever 21, GAP Skinny Jeans and Steve Madden Beezus Fawn Patent Pumps. I went a little daring with this outfit and I say this because I only ever end up shopping in Forever 21 when I’m with my seventeen year old daughter. I honestly never go there to shop on my own. I do own a few pieces that have jumped out at me from Forever 21. I’m usually in small boutiques or GAP, Express, belk, Macy’s, JCP, Nordstrom, and Ann Taylor just to name a few places that I frequent. However this particular day I saw the lace shirts and thought it was very cute plus it matched my Steve Madden Pumps.
I’ll always go shopping with the mind set to match the outfit or pieces of an outfit to my shoes or handbag. You also know that depending on the occasion my nail designs or nail polish color will match the ensemble as well. I paired the tank top and lace shirt together well… because you know I wasn’t going to go bare under there! I knew that skinny jeans was going to complete the outfit along with my Steve Madden Pumps and Coach Silver/ Ivory Multi Madison CLVR Maggie. So… my tops came from Forever 21, my Denim Skinny Jeans is from The Gap, I bought my Steve Madden Pumps on Amazon, & my handbag is one I’ve had in my luxury handbag collection from Coach.
I really love this look and the color scheme! I actually hopped on my husbands motorcycle and went riding with him after this photo shoot AND… no I didn’t change clothes! I just threw on a jacket! So, what are some of your favorite fashion trends or colors this Spring? Do you think I pulled off this look? I love playing with fashion and style! #SaturdayStyle
