Yoga By The Dozen is a interactive yoga video designed for children ages 2-6. JoAnna Ross (yoga teacher) works amazingly with the children teaching them different yoga poses along with the proper name of each pose while explaining the importance of breathing. JoAnna also has adorable t-shirts that the children wear showing where their heart, lungs, stomach and kidneys are located. The children are also using special yoga mats to show them the proper placement of their hands and feet. These accessories are available on the Yoga By The Dozen website.
JoAnna has extensive training and has taught in some of the best yoga studios. I love this video because it teaches your little one a few different sets of skills and it’s very interactive. There are key benefits that Yoga by the Dozen points out and they are as follows: Yoga can Increase cognitive and motor skills, increase confidence courage and self esteem, enhance balance & coordination, increase memory retention & concentration, nurture creativity & self expression, allows them to have respect for themselves and others and it’s a proven therapy for kids with ADHD and Autism. The best part is that yoga is an exercise that your little one will enjoy and they will learning key skills at the same time without even noticing.
My three year old son Jo Jo a.k.a “Mini Me” and I had the opportunity to review and participate in doing Yoga By The Dozen. We did yoga before bedtime. I thought it would be a great activity to do before completely winding down for the night and going to bed. Jo Jo watched the video intently trying to emulate what he saw on the video. He had his yoga mat and was successful at achieving most poses. We still need to work on balancing with certain poses but, for a yoga first timer he did great! Before I knew it Jo Jo had broken a sweat and was exhausted. Once the workout was complete he got a bath and went to sleep almost immediately. The Yoga By The Dozen video is roughly thirty minutes long, was so upbeat and engaging that it had Jo Jo’s full attention up until the end. I look forward to making this a daily routine activity that I can enjoy with “Mini Me”.
I would definitely recommend Yoga By The Dozen to any parent wanting to implement a daily FUN fitness routine for your little one. It’s a very engaging video that will have your child tuned in until the end while learning vital skills. For more information visit the Yoga By The Dozen website. This is a good locomotive exercise that relaxes the body and brain. I can’t believe that there’s yoga for kids. Thanks for the post. BTW, the link you provided for the Yoga By The Dozen is broken.
Thank you for pointing out the link error, it has been corrected!
Great blog! Do you have any suggestions for aspiring writers? I’m planning to start my own site soon but I’m a little lost on everything. Would you suggest starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many options out there that I’m totally confused .. Any recommendations? Many thanks!
When I started blogging in 09′ I started on the Blogger platform and after my first year I transferred over to my own self hosted WordPress site. I’d say start with the free platform and when you have found your niche and know exactly what you’d like to do you can go for the paid option if it makes sense for you. I have my own small business and needed to brand myself so the customized paid option worked for me. Good Luck!
