I was so happy to receive my Elegant Twist “Lucky” Bamboo Plant from ProFlowers in the mail. It was in a box covered in white Styrofoam pieces. The plant was secure and the roots had been covered carefully and wrapped in a damp cotton like material. The stones were in a separate plastic bag and the vase was secure in a small box. After carefully removing the contents of the box I laid everything out on the table and looked at the “Proper Care Guide” that was included.
There was a step by step instruction manual for the assembly of the plant and it was super easy! The only part that was a bit of a challenge for me was that it asks that you unwrap the bamboo stalks and be careful NOT to disturb the roots. Well, they packaged it so perfect and wrapped it so that it would get the proper water it needed while in transit that unwrapping the plant without disrupting the roots was a bit challenging for me. After being successful at unwrapping the plant I was able to start to assemble it.
I placed some of the decorative rock in the bottom of the glass container, I then centered the bamboo bundle in the container and then adding the remaining decorative rock evenly until the glass was full. I then filled the glass container with water AND Viola… I was finished! I love this plant because it’s low maintenance and it doesn’t need to be in direct sun light. It’s also super easy to grow and once the leaves fall off the stalk, they will gradually develop into stalks themselves.
Lucky Bamboo is a tropical plant (botanic name: Dracaena) originating in Southeast Asia. It is known for symbolizing Health, Love, Luck and Good Fortune and is frequently used in the art of Feng Shui. Stalks of bamboo typically have naked branches ending in tufts of sword-shaped leaves. These shoots are traditionally grouped together in odd numbers. Different numbers of stalks represent different aspirations.
