I had an amazing evening attending reFASHIONED Durham Spring 2013 fashion show presented by dtownMarket. reFASHIONED showcased local fashion designers from all over the Triangle. Many of the designers used Eco-friendly materials made in the USA and some designs were remade clothing. The show took place at Motorco Music Hall, a bar in downtown Durham in the Central Park district that is loved by many Durham community residents. The fashion show was hosted by local hip hop artist The Real Laww and Marilyn ManHo who kept the energy and excitement in the room going with fun commentary as the models rocked the runway with DJ Shahzad on the 1’s and 2’s playing all the right tunes. I had such a GREAT time live tweeting this event! Fashion is definitely making it’s mark in Durham and surrounding cities in the Triangle.
dtownMarket’s goal is to curate an eclectic showcase of style and design in celebration of Carolina style. dtownMARKET is excited to expand efforts to increase brand exposure for local emerging fashion talent, artists, and businesses. Every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month you can find dtownMARKET vendors showcasing their goods. There is a large rotating group of vendors, so there is always something new to see. The name reFASHIONED brings along a lot of meaning with it; like eco-friendly and re-made clothing. It means so much more to them than that. It means changing the public’s concept of fashion and design.
