Last weekend I scored some tickets to go and see Nickelodeon’s Storytime Live at the Progress Energy Center for the performing Arts – Raleigh, NC. Our show was scheduled for 2:00 p.m. I made sure that mini me went to sleep early the night before so he’d wake up early and that would give me enough time tire him out so he’d take a nap before the show. Regular nap time was around show time. I really didn’t need a meltdown in the middle of the show! About an hour before we were scheduled to leave I gave him a bath and he went down for a nap. Talk about perfect timing! When we left he was still sleeping, I put him in his car seat, he slept the entire ride and I had to wake him when we arrived at the theater.
When we arrived at the theater we had to get our tickets from will call. We had balcony isle seats that were perfect. The show started with Moose A. Moose and Zee they were the hosts and got the children excited about the upcoming performances. Ni Hao Kai Lan was the first performance, then the Backyardigans, The Wonder Pets and ended it with Dora the Explorer. I really loved how each show was about 15 – 20 minutes long and it kept the children’s attention. Mini Me is two and he did really well for his age, he sang along and participated when asked. Dora the Explorer had a very interactive show and frequently asked for crowd participation. We did have one intermission between shows for snacks, to buy novelties from the show or just have the kids run around and burn some energy! At the end all characters came on stage to sing a song together and say farewell!
The storylines were a little different than what we normally see on television, so that was a plus! Some songs were brand new and my son knew all the regular theme songs. It was an awesome show! Here are some pictures.
