I recently had the opportunity to visit the new CHOPT location in Cameron Village Raleigh, NC. The event was coordinated by NC Social, a group for NC Bloggers, Entrepreneurs and Social Media Butterflies to connect and support one another. Thank you to Andrea Bates of Good Girl Gone Redneck and Kate Kelly of Life of a Ginger. NC Social is their brain child and I am happy to be a part of it. I honestly didn’t know what to expect before visiting CHOPT. I just though… It sounds really HEALTHY!!!!! Lol!
CHOPT Creative Salad Company offers a great selection of salads along with soup and sandwich options. You can even create your own salad, salad sandwich or grain salad by adding fruit & veggies, cheese & dairy, grains & beans, dried fruit, crunch or nuts. The combinations are endless; you have so many items to choose from. I personally gravitated towards the destination salads. Destination Salads change every 60 days. Just check the menu boards to find out where the chefs have traveled!
I really enjoyed watching the preparation of my salad. It’s pretty much an assembly line of sorts and you can see everything right in front of you. It’s all fresh and sustainable produce. You get it all chopped just the way you like it. I have food allergies and didn’t have to worry about pre-mixed ingredients. Additionally you can add FreeBird Chicken, Grass-Fed Steak or Niman Ranch Smoked Bacon to your salad. Once everything is chopped up you can add your dressing of choice as much or as little as you prefer. I like lots of dressing so I requested to have my salad covered in Thai Coconut Lime Vinaigrette.
Now through February the destination is: THAILAND! This was a no brainer for me because I LOVE Thai Food and I didn’t want to order a basic Chicken Caesar Salad which is normally my go-to salad of choice. I wanted to mix things up and get a taste of Thailand. There were three destination salad options, the Crunchy Thai Market Salad, Spicy Green Papaya Salad and Warm Bowl Spicy Green Curry Meatballs & Kelp Noodles. I absolutely love that there are warm bowl options as well to choose from.
My Destination Salad of choice was the Crunchy Thai Market Salad. Just 290 Calories with Spicy satay chicken, pickled hearts of palm, crispy rice crackers, tatsoi, purple cabbage, romaine and herbs. The dressing was Thai coconut lime vinaigrette at just 130 calories. It was delicious and full of flavor! I really liked the way all the Thai flavors worked together for the satisfaction of my taste buds. EVERYTHING was enjoyable! My entire salad was devoured, it was a nice portion and kept me full all day long.
One of my goals this year is to maintain a healthier diet, pay attention to my calorie intake and meal portions. CHOPT is a great choice for a nutritious lunch or dinner. I enjoyed my salad so much I can’t wait to try the other tastes of Thailand and see the next destination reveal. There are awesome beverage choices. The Ginger Lemonade was yummy! Check out the CHOPT website for additional information. You can view the menu and find a location near you.
Bonus: There’s an APP! It’s available for iOS and in the Google Play Store. You can order ahead, earn rewards and even opt for delivery in some areas. I love the convenience of being able to order ahead!
