One thing I absolutely love doing is having FUN with my family. If there is a moment that we can just drop everything and have a family fun day, that’s what we do. We recently had a few opportunities to go Go-Kart racing and we all had a ball! We like to visit Frankie’s Fun Park in Raleigh, NC frequently to enjoy the Go-Karts, Arcade Games, Laser Tag, Indoor & Outdoor Attractions, and the Chill Lounge. One thing that I like about Frankie’s is that it can accommodate all ages. I have three teenagers (18, 16, &14) and a six year old. It’s nice when an establishment has something for everyone to enjoy. It can be a little frustrating when someone in your family can’t enjoy a ride or attraction due to age or height restrictions. It’s great when everyone is able to have FUN! I personally like playing the arcade games, riding the Go-Karts and playing laser tag. My family will do EVERYTHING! I think the kids enjoy the Go-Karts because they love to compete in racing and can go fast and not get ticketed. Lol! I know my eighteen year old loves it because she can go fast, she’s in the process of getting her license and she does everything on the Go-Kart track that we DON’T allow her to do behind the wheel.
Another one of our hang out spots is Rush Hour Karting in Garner, NC. I like Rush Hour Karting because it’s all indoors. We actually went on a rainy day and were still able to have fun and not put off Go-Karting fun due to a wet outdoor track. The Go-Karts at Rush Hour Karting go almost 40 MPH and the track is 1/3 of a mile. I love the fact that you can see how well you are doing by looking at the score board and you can race with up to 30 people at one time. This is definitely a competitive racing environment where everyone wants to win! I enjoyed watching my family race and even videotaped a portion of it. My husband got cut off by one of the other racers which caused him to spin in the wrong direction causing a major pile up. It was hysterical to me! Rush Hour Karting also has some arcade games to enjoy and a restaurant to feed your hunger after all that racing. We had so much fun my son asked if he can have his seventeenth Birthday Party there! They are available for groups, families, and small private parties. Helmets are supplied to every competitor and driving suits are optional. Group rates are available for five or more people. I can’t wait to go back!
Adventure Landing is another fun park located in Raleigh, NC and offers Miniature Golf, Laser Tag, Arcade Games, Adventure Speedway Go-Karts and Batting Cages. We have a thing for Laser Tag and Go-Kart Racing so that’s what gets most of our attention. To race at Adventure Landing You must be 56″ tall to drive a kart alone. Or you may ride in the double karts as long as a licensed driver is handling the kart and you are at least 3 years old and 36″ tall. The Go-Kart Track is ¼ mile long and has twists and turns making racing lots of fun. In cases like these my six year old rides with his dad as a passenger and still has the time of his life. Dad is definitely a competitive racer and even though other people may be on the track with us, we only compete amongst ourselves. It’s fun to watch your husband and kids speed past you and shout something or make a funny face because they gain on you but, that’s okay. I stay in the safe zone and actually operate the Go-Kart like a regular vehicle. I slow down around the curves and am very cautious with my speed on other areas of the track. Besides, I really like watching my family enjoy themselves and I’m usually the one capturing it on photo or video.
All in all I love exploring things to do in the Triangle with my family! There are weekends when we venture out of town and find things to do as well but, if you live in the Raleigh-Durham, NC area these are a few great choices if you like arcade games, laser tag and Go-Karts!
