Like they say “What goes up, must come down”! Yesterday started out GREAT. As a matter of fact, my first Facebook Status and Tweet of the day said “Being Productive & Staying Positive ALL day are my goals” I had a business meeting that went well and I left feeling excited and ambitious to start something new. I got through the rest of the busy work day and had planned to meet two of my girlfriends after work for some drinks and we were going to see Broadway Series South’s RENT at the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts. Just a Girls Night Out!
I went home to cook immediately so dinner would be ready before I left. I started to get ready and I had planned to meet one of my girlfriends at my job and she was going to follow me to the theater. I was meeting my other girlfriend at the theater at 7:30 showtime is 8:00 p.m. I left a little behind schedule but, if you know me you I’m punctually challenged. My clocks are set ten minutes fast and everything but, I’m always ten to fifteen minutes behind schedule. Which is really like twenty to thirty minutes taking into consideration I procrastinate due to the extra ten minutes! I know! I know! Okay so, I left the house thirty minutes after I was supposed to. I called my girlfriend to let her know but, she didn’t answer her phone. I BBM her on the BlackBerry and then she responds. She was in a dead zone and went back home. She say’s we’ll do it another night. Okay, that’s fine! I still have another girlfriend to meet in Raleigh. I get on the Freeway and get about a mile away from my destination according to my navigation system and right at the busiest intersection my van dies! Yes, I’m at a major intersection with tons of traffic and my van put me out! My 1st thought was to scream out of aggravation but, that’s not a good look in public!
I’m literally in the middle of the street blocking traffic, I don’t want to be that woman that people are cursing out in their minds because I’m keeping them from their destinations. NOT ME! I need to get my car out of the road. A bystander asked what was wrong do I think it’s my battery, do I need a jump? Important fact: I’m clueless when it comes to automobiles. If a warning light isn’t on and I don’t hear a funny noise “I don’t know” I just drive! Okay, so I try to start the car but, it cranks up it just isn’t turning over. It’s not my battery! I call my girlfriend to tell her what’s going on and she tells me that she’s on her way! Okay, my girl is coming to save me! This is how the phone call went…
Me: Hey, you won’t believe what happened.
Her: What?
Me: My car just died at the busiest intersection and I’m stranded.
Her: Okay…I’m on my way. Where are you?
Me: Hillsborough St.
Her: OKay, be right there!
I get back to trying to get the car out of the street and a city bus pulls up. The driver gets out to help push my car to the side of the road along with some bus passengers. I heart you guys! So my car is FINALLY not blocking traffic anymore. A cop stops to see what’s wrong and he tries to help and we’re not successful. I need to get it towed or a mobile mechanic. Wonderful! *sarcasm
Where the heck is my girlfriend?
My phone rings…
Me: Hello!
Her: Where are you again, I can’t find you.
Me: Hillsborough St. & Pullen Rd.
Her: Give me a landmark or name of a business
Me: There’s a clock Tower and A Mom & Pop Shop called “Quick Mart”
Her: Okay… Be right there! Putting it in navigation system.
Me: Okay!
I wait….
My phone rings….
Me: Hey! What’s up?
Her: Are you in Durham or Raleigh? My GPS says Your location is in Raleigh.
Me: Um, Raleigh! The Play is at Progress Energy
Her: Girl, I’m in Durham! I thought it was at Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC)
Me: Silence…..
Both of Us: BUST OUT LAUGHING!!!!!
She’s in a whole other city, mind you both cities have a Hillsborough St./Rd. My evening just keeps getting better! So, I tell her to just go home. I had called hubby to alert him of what was going on with the car and he was on the way! I guess my “Girls Night Out” just wasn’t meant to be! Turns out my it was my fuel pump! *sigh*
