It would be an understatement for me to say that I was totally surprised when I got a first look at the 2018 Toyota C-HR XLE Premium. The first thing that stood out to me was the color of course. It was two tone Iceberg/Ruby Flare and it looked holiday festive. I got excited about going Christmas Shopping and being out and about during the holidays with a car that perfectly fit the holiday theme. My mom dubbed the car Peppermint and I added Patty. So, Peppermint Patty was her name! Yes, we name cars around here!
Once you get past the vibrant color and start to explore you’ll see the hidden-type-design rear door handles. The tires pop with standard vortex-styled 18-in. alloy wheels and they look great! You get standard projector-beam halogen headlights, LED Daytime running lights and integrated fog lights. One of my favorite features with remote keyless entry is that once you unlock the car it projects “Toyota C-HR†on the pavement with puddle lights on the power outside mirrors. I was totally surprised by this and it’s a cool concept.
The Toyota C-HR is a very attractive ride, now let’s talk about the interior. I’m very transparent and share that the dashboard in most vehicles are my playground. I love technology and want to explore all it offers. The 7-in. touch screen display is a great start and of course I had to get my music in order and program my favorite radio stations. You can also sync your phone and listen to your playlist. I love the convenient Smart Key System with Push Button Start, Blind Spot Monitor and Rear-Cross Traffic Alert. Safety first, right?
One thing I had to adjust to was no built-in navigation system. If I needed directions, I just pulled up Google Maps on my Moto Z2 Force and we were on our way! The rearview mirror is equipped with auto-dimming with integrated backup camera display. The temperature dropped and I could totally appreciate the climate control system and heated front bucket seats. If you are into monitoring your vehicle while you drive, the standard G-Force Monitor will keep you in the loop on the 4.2 in. multi-information display.
It’s great on gas and you can get up to 27 mpg in the city and 31 on the highway. I did lots of driving around town to shop for the holidays and I didn’t have to fill up the tank. You get 3.4 gallons per 100 miles. The annual fuel cost is about $1,250. The Toyota C-HR has a good size cargo storage area along with a privacy screen since it’s glass rear windshield. It worked great while holiday shopping and not exposing all the gifts in the trunk.
Overall, the Toyota C-HR is SEXY! If you visit the Toyota website you can see all the available colors that it comes in. You also get a 360-degree tour of the interior and you can watch videos to see how it performs. I enjoyed my time with this beauty! She was a smooth ride and I kept getting compliments on her. I also got asked on more than one occasion what type of car she was. It was the perfect holiday ride and totally fit into this seasons theme.
