This holiday season has been anything but, calm for me. I’ve been working, attending holiday parties, trying to decorate and holiday shop. I must confess that my decorating hasn’t even begun; I am planning on doing it this evening.*turns head in shame* There will be gifts for the little ones that’s a plus! Don’t worry; it’ll all be done before Saturday! If you didn’t know, I’m a tad bit of a procrastinator. Well maybe a bit more than a tad! One of my favorite quotes is… “I’m going to stop procrastinating once I get around to it†~Anonymous
I’ve been attending holiday parties since last week and will be attending different holiday events up until the eve of the New Year! I’ve actually had a really good time at these events. Last week Thursday was my annual staff holiday party where I got tipsy off of balls of bourbon and poinsettia. If you follow me on Twitter then you lived that event with me. I attended a friend’s cookie exchange on Friday night where I had a chance to meet a published author and anthropologist. We talked, played games, ate cookies, washed it down with eggnog and apple martinis and had a GREAT time. Great networking!
Saturday night I was invited to friends Christmas Party and had a blast! From the exquisite food to the alcoholic pomegranate punch and the people! I love when I can have fun with a group of people outside of our professional atmospheres AND it always fun when you find out someone’s profession especially when you never would have thought that it would be what they are. Did that make sense? I walked into the party and automatically someone walk up to me and introduced him self and takes credit for the wonderful spread! NOW, I know he didn’t do a thing, but he was outgoing, funny, and after a few drinks quite hysterical. Somehow we started talking about professions and I stated that I was the Marketing Coordinator for the city’s alternative weekly newspaper and that I had a Graphic Design, Marketing business and Blogged also. Well it came out that he’s a Principal, and my mouth dropped! I was wrong, I shouldn’t have judged this man period while he was off the clock but, I would have never thought that he was a Principal, Middle – High School Principal at that! The room was filled with Professors, Project Directors, and Graphic Designers etc. I had an awesome time networking, connecting and having fun in a laid back atmosphere. Good Times!
I’m trying to get all the kid’s doctor’s appointments in before they go back to school in January. Track starts as soon as they go back and my son is actively wresting. I made an appointment yesterday for my daughter to get a physical and sports clearance, (she runs track) and the exam went well, it wasn’t until she needed to get three immunizations that there was a problem. She’s about to be fifteen years old! She cried like her two year old brother. I actually laughed because I didn’t expect it and she was on the phone texting the entire visit. I take her brother today for his appointment and he’s fine about the shots. He actually smiled through it but decides to freak out about the flu nasal spray because he doesn’t want anything up his nose! I mean goodness! I couldn’t help but laugh at him too! The two younger ones will get their check ups after the New Year. All in all things are getting done, slowly but surely. I’ll be posting a giveaway, event information and my New Year’s Resolutions before the New Year so stay tuned… Hope you’re holiday is a little less chaotic than mine. Tis the season…
