It was almost love at first sight… I attended a Red Carpet Grammy Fashion Party at Flaunt Boutique in February and went window shopping, or so I thought! I started looking for a cute dress that I could wear on my Valentine’s Day date with my husband. I saw the red strapless snake skin corset dress and thought it was cute but, couldn’t see myself wearing it. I was petitioned to go to the dressing room by the store owner, my sister and other event attendees. I made my way to the dressing room and tried it on, everyone loved it and said I looked great in it but, I still wasn’t sold! However, I am notorious for taking risks and thinking outside the box so I decided to buy the dress. Flaunt is one of my favorite boutiques to shop at so I rarely walk out empty handed.
The snake skin corset dress is also available in tan however I went with red because I am always playing it safe with black, white, and tans. This was my chance to step away from my staple colors and find that fashion diva that I always keep so hidden. I wore my strapless red snake skin corset dress by Gracia with black Nine West crocodile pumps. I thought I had enough going on with the snake print so I decided not to wear any accessories with this ensemble. I absolutely loved the way it fit my body and looked on me. I really like that it’s strapless, and a corset, the print is beautiful and the peplum was a perfect bonus. You can’t see my child bearing hips or little bit of baby phat on my stomach that won’t go away no matter how many crunches I do. The dress is sexy and I felt amazing in it! In one of my photos I look bootylicious, or so I’ve been told! Ha!
I had an amazing opportunity to work with Tiwa Lawrence MUA and she did a beautiful job on my brows, eyes and overall makeup. This is what Tiwa did to achieve my look… For my face Tiwa prepped my face with complete comfort cream and applied prep primer Vibrancy eye cream under the eye. The she applied the following: Studio Fix Fluid Foundation in NC45, Studio Finish Concealer in NC 42, Mineralize skin finish in medium dark, Mineralize skin finish in dark deep to contour my face, style blush and prep + prime transparent finishing powder.
For my eyebrows: Urban Decay Primer Potion- Eden, Urban Decay Blunt Eyeshadow (to highlight the brow bone and inner lids), Jest eyeshadow (middle of lids), saddle and fig 1 (Outer lids and Crease and lower lids) and added embark to darken Crease, Milani liquify black pencil (in waterline) and Maybelline Ultra Liner in black (upper lashline).
For My Lashes: Tiwa curled my lashes and applied Studio fix lash Mascara and topped with I.Envy by Kiss Lashes in KPEM08
For My Lips: Lip conditioner, Brick Lip liner, Ruby woo Lipstick and Love Alert dazzleglass.
After Tiwa completed my look it was time to get out of mommy mode and be the true fashion diva that I am! I was able to escape being mom for one millisecond to my “Fabulous Four” and model for these photographs for #FashionFriday. I was able to work with my good friend Johnny J. Jones again, he’s the gentleman that shot my Sponsor video. If you haven’t seen it, it’s on my “About” page. Johnny is an amazing photographer and videographer! I can talk to him and tell him my ideas and vision and we always bring it to life! Together Myself, Tiwa and Johnny will bring you Fashion Friday! The Life of a Mom In Fashion (#MIF)!
