Making my house into a connected smart home has been one of the things on the top of my priority list during my spring cleaning, purging and work space redesign process. Over the holidays I purchased a Google Home and absolutely love it. My next plan of action was to utilize it as much as I can which included getting Philips Hue Lighting and connecting them throughout my home. In addition to using the Hue app to control my lights I wanted to connect it to my Google Home to control my lights via voice command.
I started with the Philips – Hue Light Recipe Kit – Adjustable White which comes with one white ambiance LED bulb and a wireless dimmer allowing you to change settings to relax, read, concentrate or energize. You can add up to 10 hue lights and simultaneously control them using the dimmer throughout your home. The dimmer switch is magnetic and can be removed from the plate and used as a remote with a range of up to 12 meters indoors. You also have the option of mounting the switch on your wall using screws or tape.
The Philips Hue white ambiance light recipe kit worked perfectly right out of the box. There was no hassle with a really quick and easy installation. My living room is where I set up the white ambiance bulbs. I went out and bought a white and color ambiance LED bulb along with the bridge. I did this to be able to use the Philips – Hue White And Color Ambiance Smart Led Bulbs – Multicolor and add additional hue lights (up to 50 lights) and connect them to the Philips Hue Bridge. The Bridge is the hub to set up your personal lighting preferences and get smart home functionality.
You can connect up to 12 accessories to take your personal lighting experience to the next level. Once I easily installed the bridge and connected it to my WiFi, I was ready to start customizing my Philips Hue App. The Philips Hue App was installed on my phone. I will also install it on my tablet so it’s easily accessible to my family and they don’t have to depend on my phone. I connected my Philips Hue Lights to my Google Home by adding it in “Home Controlâ€. This allows me to control my lighting via voice command by using my Google Assistant.
Everything works seamlessly together and it makes life so much easier. Hue bulbs are energy-efficient LED lighting with instinctive technology. When you connect your lights, bridge, hue app and Google Home or any other smart assistant… You have total control over your lighting experience. You can set up routines, timers and even use preset scenes that you can edit by dimming or making the scene brighter. The color options are endless! My son loves to go through all the colors of the rainbow using the hue app or voice command. Take a look!
Overall, I am blown away at how the Philips Hue Personal Lighting system works. We can control all the lights easily and I won’t have to get up and turn my daughter’s lamp off in her room because she is notorious for falling asleep with her lights on EVERY night. Someone usually ends up in her room around midnight or later to turn her lights off. We can control the lights when we’re away from home and I think my favorite is, being able to turn on our lights when we get home before we actually get inside. It’s the little things.
