I was excited at the opportunity to review Riley Can be Anything with my youngest son. We recently completed our first year of home-school and we are excited about the upcoming school year. We’ve planned some fun excursions this summer and I also want to keep some summer enrichment in our plans. This will allow us to start the new school year off smoothly. Reading is definitely something that I try to incorporate into our daily routine even though we are on summer break. I also like to work some math into our day!
Riley Can Be Anything is a fun book about a young boy who doesn’t quite know what he wants to be when he grows up. It’s definitely something my son can relate to, because when I asked him what he wants to be when he grows up he doesn’t have a clue. When he does answer, it changes by the next time the question is asked again and I’m not surprised! I think he has time to figure out what he wants to be when he grows up. Riley enlists the help from his favorite big cousin Joe to help him try to figure out what he wants to be.
Cousin Joe tries to help Riley by giving him ideas based on successful people in their family that had really great careers. Riley did listen and took it all into consideration but, still was not decided on what he should be when he grows up. By the end of the book when Riley has to share in class what he’d like to be when he grows up. After hearing some of his classmates, he professes that he can be anything! Riley Can Be Anything is a great book for young readers. The story rhythm flows with fun illustrations.
