A new theater is in town and you can see a movie, grab a beer/cocktail and dine all in one place. How’s that for convenience? But wait… there’s more! You can rent FREE movies on VHS & DVD from the Video Vortex store for a week. They even have VHS & DVD players for rent as well. It’s a check-out system and works like a library. I was excited to attend the Alamo Drafthouse Grand Opening event. It’s located at 2116-D New Bern Ave. in Raleigh. The décor is old school with VHS players designed like video tapes.
There’s outdoor seating so that you can enjoy a cocktail on the patio while waiting for your movie to begin. There also available seating indoors along with the Video Vortex Bar. There are 48 different beers available and it’s a full bar so you can order your favorite cocktail. The Alamo Drafthouse has a full kitchen with a great menu for dining in. I was impressed with the interior and exterior décor and design. It’s a great place to host an event. We had such a good time exploring the theater.
The event was tons of fun with a scavenger hunt that we played throughout the evening. If you collected all ten pins you won a prize. Did I mention it was an 80’s theme party? I was dressed up in a Women’s Darth Vader costume and was in Star Wars cosplay glory! My friends all dressed up as well and everyone looked great in their 80’s attire. Even the music took us back to the 80’s as we sang along to tunes that we grew up to. Which brings me to the fact that there was karaoke and it was fun!
There were different movies playing throughout the theater and we got a chance to sit and relax in the most comfortable theater seats. I literally sank in the chair once I sat down and hadn’t even reclined it yet. There are eleven screens available with seating for 49-109 people. The theaters are spacious to accommodate everyone. To stick with the old-fashioned theme, they have 35-millimeter projectors to screen rare print films and new digital & laser technology for current films.
I love the concept of a dine-in theater where you can also rent rare movies on VHS & DVD. You won’t be short on choices, there are over 75,000 titles to choose from. So, when you have a chance go and check out the Alamo Drafthouse in Raleigh. Enjoy a dine-in experience and grab a cocktail! Side Note: There is a strict no texting and talking policy during movies, so put your phone on “do not disturb†and whisper if you must! Purchase your movie tickets for $11.00.
