I had the pleasure of going to see the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Presents… Barnums FUNundrum with my family and we were totally amused. I hadn’t been to the circus since I was a child and I was jumping out of my seat, screaming and clapping with each performance. This was the first time my children had ever been to the circus and they were blown away. The show was very upbeat with a live orchestra and good music to keep the audience at the edge of their seats throughout the show.
There were so many talented performers. Trapeze performers, contortionists, dirt bike riders, just to name a few and I can’t forget the animals. I loved the animals! Animals are so smart, the tigers and elephants doing their tricks and dancing was very entertaining. The performance started at seven with an intermission and was over at roughly nine thirty. The show came to Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, NC on January 26 and ends on the 30th. I would definitely recommend everyone go and see this show, it’s truly the greatest show on earth!
We did get a nice bonus towards the end of the show. Baby Elephant Barack was escorted by his mom and trainer around the arena. Baby Barack was born in 2009 right around the Presidential Inauguration. I wonder if the president knows there’s a baby elephant named after him. Take a look at some of the highlights of the show that I managed to capture.
The contortionist were AWESOME!
You mean you came to town and didn’t give me a heads up? For shame!
:o) Glad you had a great time!

Amazing photos…I absolutely love the Circus!!
Wow- This looks like so much fun.
I haven’t been to the circus in over twenty years! I think it’s time I go again!
I’m sorry! I’ll definitely give you a heads up the next time I’m in town. I want to try and plan a meet up so I’ll keep you posted. I’ll need to do one for the Triangle and one in Charlotte!
Baby Barack won’t be appearing in any more shows this year. Sadly the EEHV he contracted when he was 1 year old and almost died from has returned.
Ringling Bros Circus/Feld Entertainment has been subjecting baby Barack to the stress of transport, cruel “training,” and performances since he was less than a year old and he just turned two. While on tour baby Barack is surrounded by several trainers with bullhooks, controlling his every single move.
There is scientific literature that recognizes that stress is strongly associated with EEHV, but the circus choose to compromise that baby elephants life to milk every dollar they can out of his short performing life.
Recently a factual and educational video was posted on YouTube Part 2 of 7 shows the life of captive elephants in the United States. You will get a ring side seat watching Ringling Trainer and their elephants and some zoo employees.
Animal abuse for entertainment is wrong no matter how you dress it up.
Hi, please understand those animals you call smart have been beaten, tortured, abused and punished from very young age until their spirit was forever broken and forced to do tricks for your entertainment. There’s plenty of research done on the torture of baby elephants in circuses..circuses can be more amazing and entertaining without using animals.. After all, don’t u agree baby animals are way cuter roaming free with their loved ones than chained away? imagine if it was your child and think twice before u go to a circus that uses animals for entertainment. Thnx
