We visited Ganyard Hill Farm recently and picked three pumpkins. The next thing we planned to do was design and make jack-o-lanterns and lastly roast the pumpkin seeds. I bought a pumpkin carving party kit and we planned a weekend pumpkin carving event.
The patterns that came in the kit were too big for our pumpkins, so we (actually my sister) had to improvise and draw freehand with a Sharpie on the pumpkins.
Once the patterns were drawn we had to create an opening at the top of the pumpkins and cut it out, then we had to scoop out all the flesh and pumpkin seeds.
Once the flesh and seeds were scooped out we used the saw to carve out the designs.
Once we were done, we let them sit for a while before we placed tea candles in them to be lit. The pumpkins are now living on our front porch by the front door.
Happy Halloween! Stay Tuned for the Roasted Pumpkin Seed Recipe.
I’m loving these pumpkins!! Every time I try to carve pumpkins I mess them up (lol) so I always leave it to hubby and the older kids to do. You did a great job with them! Thanks for sharing!

We had so much fun carving a pumpkin last Halloween. And even if Halloween is over my kids are still hooked into carving that left over pumpkin. They made different wonderful designs.
