It’s been a while since I updated my blog regularly even though I’ve been jotting down all the topics I’d like to talk about but, just hadn’t had the chance to sit down and get my thoughts together to type it. Being a working mom while running a business and raising four children can really make you put things on hold for a little while, and before you can get back in your groove you just have to relax and get your thoughts together. The month of June was a really BUSY month for me. I planned one of my company’s biggest corporate events that we host annually and that took a majority of my time in June. Planning and coordinating community events is a tough JOB! The event was successful and the turnout was GREAT! So for those who don’t know I’m a Marketing/ Promotions Coordinator for an alternative weekly newspaper. I handle the promotions and events we sponsor, co-sponsor or host. I also run a graphic design, consulting, marketing business and I design and work in the evenings and on weekends.
Now I find myself perplexed on how to pick up where I left off in the blogosphere! I was fortunate enough to attend the Type A Parent Conference last month and the amount of information I received has me wanting to upgrade and really fine tune my blog. I’m also thinking of dropping my niche since I seem to write more like a lifestyle blogger than a niche blogger that’s totally addicted to social media! I like to cover many topics and I really have no desire to start another blog in addition to this one. I have so many other things to do, I think it would get neglected because my stuff always gets put on the back burner. I’ve also had some opportunities come up and I think not putting my content in a box is going to work for me, besides I’m always the one screaming “Think outside the box”! With that being said… I’m going to give myself a deadline to redesign my blog and incorporate my upgrades. You all can critique and give me your honest opinions when I’m done. There will be a HUGE announcement!
I also invite you to critique my blog the way it is and give me your thoughts. I have no problem receiving creative criticism and taking your ideas into consideration for the direction I’m trying to move my blog towards. I’m a very indecisive individual so that can very well be another reason I’m feeling so stagnant at the moment. I have so many ideas and nowhere near making a decision on what to do next, which irritates me because I can work diligently on a client’s blog/ website and have creative input to help them achieve their goals along with getting the project completed within a deadline but, not for myself. I’m sure there are other graphic designers that feel my pain at that last comment. However, to make things just a tad bit easier I am going to vlog on a weekly schedule and really try and stick to my editorial calendar. I know that things happen but, I don’t want to just STOP and get stuck again because that’s exactly the way I feel right now. So, let me focus and resurrect my new improved blog! Coming Soon…
I understand being indecisive and “stuck” . I just redesigned my blog last weekend. But it’s common for me to change things on my blog. I think I create a new header every month. And as far as niches go. I don’t have one! LOL I’ve been struggling with a niche since I started blogging. I’m not a mom blogger, I’m not a life style blogger, I’m not a fashion blogger…..I don’t know what I am. I write about any and everything that comes to my mind.
It’s great that you’ve decided to kinda change things. Change can be a good thing. Good luck with the redesign.
I hear you on being busy, I to have a notebook full of topics I wanted to discuss on my blog but haven’t gotten the time to start writing them, and the list just gets longer while nothing makes it onto the pages…. Thinking outside of the box makes great sense to you, especially if you feel like you’re stuck…. No one puts Jael in the corner (Dirty Dancing). I love you’re current layout now, but look forward to see how you redesign your blog and think outside of the box, good luck!
there’s this website that I have been on for the last few months, called Daily Challenge by MeYou Health and i find helpful, to do things that you think you don’t have time for in 15 minute burst intervals. So maybe one day a week, either in the early morning or maybe right before you go to sleep, just take 15 minutes to start a post, make a skeleton of what you want to say and fill in the blanks on the next 15 minute interval you have available….So you’re doing something and you’re making time for YOU.

You know what’s tough? Trying to do it all. And yet we do! You are doing great things, so it makes sense that you would get stuck every once in awhile. It’s fantastic that you are planning a redesign…sometimes that’s what helps us get unstuck, shaking things up! I’m looking forward to the big announcement, looking forward to the redesign, and seeing how you flourish!
